Premium DIN Rail Terminal Block Filter 2-Stage EMC
The CW4EL2-DG Series is a premium enhanced-grade single phase AC power line EMI filter built in a European-standard DIN rail form factor — featuring a compact engineering plastic enclosure, European-style color-coded terminal blocks, and direct bottom-mount DIN rail engagement for seamless integration into IEC-standard industrial control panels alongside PLCs, drives, relays, and other DIN rail automation components.
The “E” Enhanced grade dual-stage π-type filter circuit delivers superior insertion loss performance across the conducted EMI frequency spectrum. The “L” Low Leakage design controls ground leakage current within limits compatible with RCD-protected distribution systems. Combined with European-style green and grey terminal blocks accepting standard ferrule-terminated conductors, the CW4EL2-DG is the specification-grade EMI filter for demanding European-market and internationally-aligned industrial panel programs.
Rated for 115VAC / 250VAC at 50Hz / 60Hz, available in current ratings from 1A to 60A, and fully CE and RoHS certified.

The DG Series — Four Defining Characteristics
European-Standard Form Factor & Aesthetics
The CW4EL2-DG is designed from the ground up to integrate visually and dimensionally with European-origin industrial automation components:
- Light grey engineering plastic enclosure — matches the visual standard of Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Phoenix Contact, and other major European automation brands in mixed-component panel builds
- Label-forward orientation — filter installs with identification label facing the panel door, consistent with European panel documentation and commissioning standards
- Compact width-efficient body — occupies minimal DIN rail length for space-efficient panel layout
- No protruding mounting hardware — clean panel appearance without external clips, brackets, or mounting ears
Bottom Direct DIN Rail Mount — “DG” Designation
The “DG” suffix ( Bottom Rail Clip) designates the unique mounting approach of this series:
| Mounting Method | Side Clip (RG Series) | Bottom Direct (DG Series) |
|---|---|---|
| Rail Engagement | Side-mounted clip assembly | Integrated bottom channel |
| Installation Action | Snap side clip onto rail | Slide bottom channel onto rail |
| Panel Profile | Filter body extends above rail | Filter sits directly on rail level |
| Component Alignment | Offset from rail surface | Flush with adjacent DIN components |
| Appearance | External clip visible | Clean — no external hardware |
| European Standard | Non-standard appearance | Matches EU automation component standard |
The bottom-direct mounting channel is molded into the housing base — the filter simply slides onto the DIN rail from the end or snaps down from above, exactly like a PLC module or circuit breaker, and secures in place.
European Color-Coded Terminal Blocks
- Green Terminal Block (LINE side — Left): The use of green for the LINE input terminal block follows European electrical safety color conventions — immediately identifying the power input connection point to panel wiring technicians familiar with European standards
- Grey Terminal Block (LOAD side — Right): Standard grey terminal blocks on the LOAD side for equipment output connections — consistent with Phoenix Contact, Weidmüller, and Wago terminal block color conventions used throughout European panel builds
- Screw-Clamp Connection: Accepts bare wire, bootlace ferrules (recommended), and pre-insulated ferrules — the standard wiring method for European industrial panel construction
- Tool-Required Connection: Flathead or Pozidriv screwdriver — standard European panel wiring tool
Enhanced + Low Leakage Dual Performance
- “E” Enhanced Grade: Superior insertion loss performance compared to standard-grade filters — deeper attenuation of both common-mode and differential-mode conducted EMI across the interference frequency spectrum
- “L” Low Leakage: Controlled ground leakage current — compatible with RCD-protected distribution circuits and applicable to equipment leakage current budgets under IEC 62368-1 and related standards
Circuit & Internal Component Details
Capacitor Network
- CX (X-Class, Differential-Mode): 3 × 0.1μF Line-to-line X-rated capacitors — differential-mode noise suppression across the conducted EMI spectrum. No contribution to ground leakage current
- CY (Y-Class, Common-Mode): 2 × 3300pF Line-to-earth and neutral-to-earth Y-rated capacitors — common-mode noise suppression with controlled leakage current contribution. CY value selected for optimal balance between common-mode attenuation and low leakage current compliance
Inductor Network
- L: 4 × 0.5mH Enhanced Common-Mode Choke High-permeability toroidal core winding — optimized within the Enhanced “E” circuit topology to achieve higher insertion loss targets. The inductor-dominant suppression approach in the Enhanced design reduces dependence on CY capacitance for common-mode attenuation — directly enabling the low leakage current characteristic without compromising EMI suppression performance
Bleed Resistor
- R: 1MΩ X-capacitor safety discharge resistor — mandatory IEC 60335 / EN 60950 compliance component ensuring safe stored charge dissipation after AC power disconnection
Product Features
Enhanced EMI Performance — “E” Grade
Superior common-mode and differential-mode insertion loss versus standard-grade filters — providing greater EMC compliance margin for demanding applications and high-noise electrical environments
Low Leakage Current — “L” Grade
Controlled ground leakage within limits compatible with:
- RCD / GFCI protected distribution (30mA, 10mA classes)
- Multi-filter installations where cumulative leakage is a design constraint
- Equipment leakage budgets under IEC 62368-1, IEC 60601-1 adjacent, and related standards
European Terminal Block Standard
- Green / Grey color coding — immediate visual compliance with European electrical safety and panel wiring conventions
- Ferrule-compatible screw clamp — accepts bootlace ferrules per DIN 46228 for professional European panel wiring practice
- Finger-safe terminal design — live part protection during wiring and panel servicing
- Clear L / N / E marking — per IEC 60445 conductor identification standard
Bottom DIN Rail Integration
- Flush panel integration — no protruding clips or external hardware
- Label-forward installation — identification visible from panel door
- 35mm EN 60715 TS35 compatible — universal European panel rail standard
- Adjacent component compatible — installs directly beside PLCs, drives, terminals, and circuit breakers without spacing adapters
Extended Current Range: 1A to 60A
The DG series covers the widest current range in the CW4EL2 family — from 1A light-duty instrumentation filtering through to 60A high-power industrial load filtering — within a consistent European panel form factor. A single product family serves the full panel power distribution spectrum.
Dual Voltage: 115VAC / 250VAC
Single variant supports both North American and international power standards — enabling one product line to serve global panel build programs

Installation Notes
⚠️ Mount onto EN 60715 standard 35mm (TS35) DIN rail
via bottom channel — slide onto rail end or
press down onto rail until engagement clicks.
Verify secure seating before wiring.
⚠️ Use bootlace ferrules (DIN 46228) on all
conductor ends before insertion into terminal
blocks — required for professional European
panel wiring practice and reliable long-term
terminal contact performance.
⚠️ Connect GREEN terminal block (LINE) to AC
power source input: L, N, E as marked.
Connect GREY terminal block (LOAD) to
protected equipment output.
Do not reverse LINE and LOAD connections.
⚠️ Bond E (Earth) terminal to panel chassis ground.
Without ground connection, both common-mode
suppression and low leakage performance
are non-functional.
⚠️ In RCD-protected installations, calculate
total cumulative leakage from all filters
on the protected circuit before commissioning.
Contact our team for leakage budget
calculation support.
⚠️ Tighten all terminal screws to the torque
specified for the terminal block model.
At 40A–60A ratings, under-torqued terminals
present a fire and connection failure risk.
⚠️ Use conductor cross-sections rated for the
selected current per IEC 60364 or applicable
local wiring regulations.
